Hone your skills, join our community of paddlers, and learn new skills to succeed on the water this summer! The pool is a fantastic place to warm up for the summer season, meet other members of our paddling community, and get excited for the upcoming kayaking season! JHKC coaches will be in the water helping athletes achieve their goals, practice new skills, and have fun!

Wednesday, 6/3/26 from 6-8PM
Wednesday, 6/10/26 from 6-8PM
Registration fee is $25 for two hours in the pool, and all equipment can be provided for the participant.
Each week we will:
start with a quick set of introductions
review everyone’s experience and skills
split into several small groups for instruction
have fun!
Participants should be between ages 9-18, comfortable swimmers without the use of floatation or swimming aids, and interested in river kayaking. No experience in a kayak or whitewater is required!
Beginner kayakers will learn about kayaking equipment, how to safely get in and out of a kayak, basic paddling strokes and skills, wet exits, and beginning kayak roll techniques. Current and experienced JHKC athletes will work on solidifying their rolls, offside and hand rolls, and beginner freestyle tricks in the deep end. For everyone, this is a great time to get into a boat in warm water, have lots of space in the pool, and get excited for the spring and summer kayak seasons. All participants can sign up for multiple sessions.
Gear - we provide all necessary gear for these sessions. Experienced kayakers who have gear are welcome to bring it along. All kayaks will need to be washed prior to going into the pool.
Participants should bring a bathing suit, towel, and a change of clothes. If you have swim goggles or a mask, bring them (but not required at all)!
